It all started when…
Rannoch Adventure was founded by Charlie in 2011 and evolved organically from his passion for sea going adventure and the desire to excel in all aspects of ocean rowing. The sport has become hugely popular in recent years and continues to grow with events taking place worldwide.
In the 2009 Trans-Atlantic race, Charlie’s first boat, JJ, beat the entire fleet and then went on to set the solo world record the following year. Charlie went on to smash this record in 2013 with Rannoch’s second boat, Soma.
Thanks to their proven track record, Rannoch has been able to provide high quality and innovative boats to the global ocean and recreational rowing communities. They also offer a variety of training programmes and expert advice for ocean rowers.
Rannoch Adventure is based in Burnham on Crouch – this location gives them access to water 24/7 for training. It is on the doorstep of RYA recognised sailing schools for required courses, has all year round storage cover and is in close proximity to international air and shipping ports. Almost all of the trade that is involved within the design and construction of Rannoch boats is sourced locally.
Rannoch Adventure is primarily an ocean rowing company which prides themselves on being the only rowing business out there that is managed by rowers and short-handed sailors.
The Rannoch team, under Charlie’s leadership, has a hugely experienced team of project and production managers, a naval architect and building and structural consultants. Between them, they have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience of boat design and construction.
